The Central City. V. 6 2004. Continuing the search for the "soul of the city". The city as code, emergent knowledge and memory mapping. Biocity goes deeper into analogies for the organic identity of the city. The city codes itself up into a growing patterns, based on algorithms. Selected webcam feeds are collected from cities around the world in real time. projects located at........www.thecentralcity.co.uk This city is an organic network of grids and diagrams, juxtaposing urban sights and sounds. Networks of information technology, are contrasted with organic networks and city networks. The city began as series of open ended experiments between the artist and the machine to find the soul of the city. The idea was to develop analogies for the organic identity of the city as an urban community and make links with electronic networks and virtual communities. This organic interplay is contrasted with man made structures, as well as patterns and forms of urban design. The online spaces are for dreaming, thinking, meditating and transcience. The form and content of this work is a visual world of the city and its structure. 'The central city' has become an amalgamation of ideas from art, architecture , design and urbanism.
